Do you remember Malala Yousafzai?
She is the Pakistani school girl, and education activist who was shot in the head and neck by the Taliban last year, because she was not afraid to speak up! Malala speaks up to defend girls’ rights to education in Pakistan, as well as, children’s education worldwide.
She is a fighter. Not only because she has survived such a brutal attack, but because she plans to continue fighting to see every child in the world going to school. She has recently won the European Union’s Annual Human Rights Award, beating fugitive U.S. intelligence analyst Edward Snowden, and is being considered for the Nobel Peace Prize…
WOW!!!! Malala is really someone to look up to, isn’t she? Not only because of her awards or nominations, but for her integrity and commitment to what she believes in.
I definitely respect and admire her; she has the courage to speak out loud and without fear or hesitation.
So, as per this week’s phrasal verb, today you have learned two, to speak up and to look up to, haven’t you?
